'I convinced myself I couldn't'...Ā
I'd only been painting for a few months when I made this landscape (after joining Annamarie'sĀ course last year).
Being able to paint/draw is something Iāve always wanted to be able to do, but Iād convinced myself I couldnāt because I didnāt think I had any natural talent.
Turns out all I needed was to give it a go & with the help of Annamarieās no jargon, simple, laid back, friendly & joyful teaching style Iāve really surprised myself.
I can highly recommend the Art Skill Academy, everyone is so supportive, kind & helpful & my new favourite phrase is āpractice makes progressā.
Thank you Annamarie (From Claire S)

I started in the Art Skill Academy two years ago. I was a secondary English/PE teacher in my past life where art played no (or very little) part in my life. I have learned so much from Annamarieās classes and that learning is still happening, there is always something new to learn.
The ASA group is a wonderful place to be, more like family than a FB group and it is a safe and supportive place to post your work and ask questions.
Annamarie is an awesome teacher who makes the skills and concepts easy to understand and to actually achieve.Ā

Iāve been with Annamarie since January 2024. I have learned so much & progressed more in that time than I did following youtube tutorials. They just made me feel more inadequate. Annamarie teaches you the skills & from there you develop & grow as an artist as those skills transfer to other drawings & paintings. You are supported every step of the way. Confidence builds as you progress. Itās so exciting to see how far youāve come in such a short time. I hesitated joining initially because of money. But when I checked into in person lessons & other online tutorials they didnāt offer the abundance of learning or tutorials & they were expensive & the cheap ones, well you get what you pay for. Annamarieās class are the best value at an amazing price. I have built confidence in my ability because of her. The yearly cost breaks down to not much per week, & the benefits are priceless. For the first time in a very long time I put my creativity first by making a commitment to improve my artistic abilities with the Art Skill Academy. Itās a wonderful supportive community as well & I encourage you to join us. I donāt generally say much but I really wanted to share how amazing Annamarie is as well as the assistance that Kath offers. You wonāt get better creative care & support anywhere else
Hey, I'm Annamarie
When I was born, the fairies didnāt dust me with magic painting dust!
BUT I've been painting with watercolour for years, slowly learning and practicing (and yes, throwing plenty of ugly ducklings in the bin!!)
I know how frustrating it can feel to stare at a blank page or get stuck scrolling endlessly for tutorials that just donāt click.
Iāve been teaching for more thanĀ 20 years, and since launching Art Skill Academy in 2021, I still get just as excited helping students discover their own creative magic.
I love helping people welcomeĀ more creativity into their lives -Ā and over the yearsĀ I've discovered lots of secrets to help you improve your paintings.
My goal? To help you create paintings you truly love, keep your inspiration alive, and make sure you enjoy every moment of the journey.
Whether youāre just starting out or wanting to level up your skills, Iām here to help you paint with confidence and joy - no pressure, just pure creative fun.
I canāt wait to see what youāll create!
To Paint or Not To Paint...
You can keep waiting for the housework to be "finally" finished, for the demands of others to quiet down, and for the "perfect" time to start... but we both know that day rarely comes on its own.
Your paints will get packed away in the cupboard, and your creative spark will stay tucked away with them.
OR...
You can decide that today it's your turn!
Block out just one hour a week (just like you do for aĀ doctors appointment) and leave your paints out on the table.
Pick something new to try each week and fill your wall with your "happy accidents".
Which path feels more like the "you" you want to be?
š YES! IāM READY TO PAINT!
